The Apprenticeship Bill outlines the Government’s plans to ensure apprenticeships become a mainstream option for young people, together with targets to significantly boost apprenticeships for older learners. The bill sets the target of increasing the number of apprenticeships to 400,000 by 2020.
But, with 37% of apprentices failing to complete their courses, only a small proportion of UK employers offering apprenticeships, and little appreciation of the value of apprenticeships - how can this realistically be achieved?
Expanding Apprenticeships is a one day event bringing leaders and key stakeholders across Government, learning and skills providers, the further education sector, industry and public sector employers, together with local authorities. It will examine the latest policy developments and offer you practical guidance with case studies as to what strategies and plans need to be put in place to increase the quality and quantity of apprenticeships nationwide.
This one day conference will give you the opportunity to:
-
Understand the implications of the Apprenticeship Bill, including the creation of the National Apprenticeship Service
-
Examine the implications for different stakeholders of changing funding patterns
-
Ascertain the responsibilities of local authorities in offering apprenticeships
-
Effectively increase employer engagement
-
Fully understand the business case and the social benefits of offering apprenticeships
-
Appreciate the evolving relationship and roles between Train to Gain and the Learning and Skills Council
-
Increase apprenticeship retention, and reduce drop-out rates
-
Learn from practical case studies by colleges, training providers and businesses - how they work in collaboration to ensure a successful apprenticeship programme from start to finish
This is a critical event for all those involved in the delivery of apprenticeships. The full ramifications of the Apprenticeship Bill will become clear, and successful real-life case studies will enable you to take best practice back to your organisation. |
